Equalities

Bushey Heath Primary School is an inclusive school where we focus on the well-being and progress of every child and where all members of our community are of equal worth.

Every member of the school community – whether adult or child – should feel that they are important and valued. We believe that schools should be inclusive communities that welcome and celebrate differences. Full and meaningful partnership with parents and professionals and the active involvement of other members of the local community is also valued. We intend that our vision and values will actively seek to promote equality and to tackle discrimination.

We aim to create an environment for learning which will encourage all children to achieve the highest standards – through the provision of a broad, balanced and imaginative curriculum, high expectations, and effective teaching.
We work hard to help children to develop into confident, responsible and caring young people through clearly articulated parameters and in an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect.

The principles of equality provides a framework to support our commitment to valuing diversity, tackling discrimination, promoting equality and fostering good relationships between people. It also ensures that we continue to tackle issues of disadvantage and underachievement of different groups.

Although the Equality Scheme is the key document for information about our approach to equalities, the school ensures that equality principles are upheld in all aspects of school life and in relation to all school, the school development plan, self-evaluation review, school web site and newsletters.
